ABOUT

“Greetings and I’m delighted you’re visiting my website; welcome!

I’ve been playing the piano since I was six, sung in church choirs and cathedral choirs and the London Symphony Chorus and in assorted bands.

Needing to earn a proper living I then had over thirty years in business until poor heath struck and I was diagnosed with diabetes. So I worked out what was important and jettisoned everything and reverted to music full time. Good decision!

There’s some text below which lets you know what I’ve been up to for the past eight years having made that decision; composing constantly, performing live, stage shows and working on immersive experiential shows that excite the listener.

Do have a listen to the music; there’s plenty of clips throughout the site and links to take you to performances together with media clips on various platforms.

It’s a fun journey and at the heart of it is you, the listener, and the tens of thousands of comments that you make. I try and reply to every one to show my heartfelt appreciation that you took the trouble to do so; over two million views and fifty thousand comments in a couple of years!

Onwards, always..

Best wishes to you.

Duncan X”

Over the past eight years Duncan has dedicated himself to his craft, writing and recording six albums…

  • His debut album, Mnemonics Part 1, released in November 2022, showcases his personal memories and life experiences through the medium of solo piano. This deeply introspective work laid the foundation for his musical journey.

  • In April 2023, Duncan released Mnemonics Part 2, a significant evolution of the first album, recorded at London’s iconic Air Studios, featuring a 60 piece live orchestra conducted and arranged by Grammy award winning Steve Sidwell.

  • Duncan’s third album, Hope, released in September 2024 is his second solo piano album comprising twelve beautiful and evocative tracks that delve into the theme of discovering light in the darkest moments.

The albums’ powerful and sincere compositions have captivated audiences earning praise in Classical Crossover magazine, airtime on Scala radio, Classic FM, BBC radio Bristol and Nottingham and a live performance on air on the David and Carrie Grant show for BBC London. Notably the orchestrated version of “Moonlight Lullaby” has gained popularity on Spotify, appearing on editorial playlists such as Royalcore, Enemies to Lovers and Dark Academia Classical.

  • There are two further completed albums awaiting release; Stages of Life and Utopia where the genre bending gets full reign with full orchestra and a fourteen piece band.

  • Albums, Stages of Life & Utopia, are dramatic and very cinematic and offer the listener a unique musical experience by pushing boundaries and celebrating life itself.

  • The sixth album, War & Peace, was inspired by the flawed human condition and the resultant continuing wars and conflict across the globe.

  • The single, Peace, was released in April 2024 as the precursor to the main War & Peace album which has yet to be released.

Duncan writes from the heart and, in a world of deep cynicism, he believes in the power of music to be transformative and transcend worldly struggles driven by his passion for creating meaningful heartfelt compositions. At the core of this approach to writing is his deep love of humanity and a belief that each and every person is unique and very special.

Testament to the popularity of his music are the tens of thousands of messages and comments he receives from his fan base across the globe; he replies personally to every one!
